Zulile Blinker

Zulile is a Wordsmith with a distinctive sound. Her work is diverse with an aim to tell the story from a personal point of view that touches souls. Her poetry tracks, videos, events and trainings focus on having your own voice. Her works are in Dutch, English and Sranantongo. Her dance with words shed light on sexuality, cultural heritage, climate issues as well as love. Zuile is in the business of sharing stories. The story finds its medium to be told. Thus the diversity in media that she uses.
She was born in Suriname and has lived on Sint marten and The Netherlands. These influences can be heard and felt during her performances. A trendsetter in Spoken Word, Media and events in Suriname and Amsterdam. Kokolampu is a creative collective created since 2014 for young creatives to find their voice through training and talent exposure.
She has received the Zami Award (2008) for her taboo-breaking pieces, Zilveren Pluim Award (2005) for her radioshow at FunX in The Netherlands for the interactive reach amongst the youth and the Stimulerings Cordaid Award (2007) for her gender stigma breaking works.
