Rex Dixon was born in 1939 in London and is a painter trained in a number of art schools in the United Kingdom. He came to Jamaica in 1985 to teach in the painting department at the Edna Manley College for the Visual and Performing Arts and settled first in Jamaica and later in Trinidad since 2000. He represented Jamaica in several international exhibitions and has exhibited in over eighty one person and group shows in the Caribbean, in Kingston and Trinidad, and internationally at galleries in The Netherlands, England, Northern Ireland and the United States in his career. He has work in the permanent collections of the National Gallery of Jamaica, The University of the West Indies, Mona and St Augustine Campuses, the Wolverhampton Art Gallery, UK, Pan American Art Projects in Miami and in many private collections. He has used Facebook and Instagram to archive and promote his work but so far there is no single website that allows for a comprehensive overview of his work especially that carried out in the Caribbean since 1985. If accepted the funds will be used to support to construct a website that covers both his exhibitions and publications including films on his work.
