Jackie Hanover
Jackie Jaxx is a Guyanese Singer/Songwriter, Visual Artist and Fashion
Designer. She was born Jackie Alicia Hanover in Georgetown on April 28, 1990.
Her music is a fusion of Reggae, Dancehall, Pop and Guyanese folk. She sings songs that often chronicle the story of life in Guyana and pride in her Afro-Guyanese heritage. Many have uplifting and encouraging messages for listeners. She came onto the Guyanese music scene in 2009 at 18 years old as a finalist in the Carib Soca Monarch competition and has since become a household name at home. In earlier days, she sang cover songs from her favorite singers like Whitney Houston and Etta James at local pageants and ceremonies. It wasn't until 2014 that the singer released her own music and started using her stage name. She has since published many songs that are loved at home and abroad. Her songs also received placements in US TV show, Love & Hip Hop Atlanta.
Jackie's premier single, 'Guyana' was released in 2016 for the country's 50th Independence Anniversary to glowing remarks from critics and catapulted the Artist to the international stage. She performed 'Guyana' in Antigua, across several US states, in Beijing, China as a cultural ambassador for the 2016 Horticultural Expo and most notably for the inauguration of Guyana's 9th Executive President, Dr. Mohammed Irfaan Ali during the infamous 2020 elections.In 2020, Jackie launched her own clothing line called Jaxx Apparel which is an artistic and cultural movement expressing the beauty of the black aesthetic. Her pop art illustrations are printed onto T-shirts, masks, bandanas and other accessories. She also accepts commissions for paintings and sketches and is supported by a growing fanbase of over 20,000 across her social platforms.
