Elizabeth Villamán

"Eli Villamán" - Dominican Republic

I am a multidisciplinary Dominican artist. Writer, playwright, actress and teacher. I have advanced studies in narrative, screenplay, acting, and a specialization in teaching creative writing. I always seek the identity of my work through the union of different art forms to present my vision and connect with the world in a diverse and original way.
Founder of Escribir es Hoy. I have given creative workshops in Europe and in the United States.
I have won various national and international awards. The most recent:
2019, I was the first winner of the Literary Residency scholarship in Coruña, through the René del Risco Bermúdez Foundation. In 2021 I won second place for the Cuento Joven Award in the Dominican Republic.
Las Islas rotas are my most recent book of short stories.
I believe that to be a great artist, you need to be alive. Use your senses. Be open to the unknown. And with every step, every creation, I can get inside of a new world full of opportunities to be explored. I believe pure art can change lives. To be an artist is a way of living, is about seeing what is behind us.
