Īṣā Orí

Jamaica

Jamaica based Visual Artist, Īṣā Orí, has been honing her skills in Surrealism and Social Realism Painting for the past three (3) years. Even though she was never formally trained nor educated in the field, her undeniable talent has evolved exponentially. Starting her journey for the first time in 2017, Īṣā gave life to her images using charcoal on paper. Later, she was able to create a strong physical presence in her characters using acrylic and oil paints.
As an artist, she works hard to evoke feelings that people can identify and connect with. Allowing the subject matter of each body of work to determine the form the work may take. Her art takes a critical view of religious, social, political and cultural issues; arranging them into conceptually layered images. Then, with selected mediums, her art metamorphoses standard notions of realism into distinctive expressive pieces.
Her aim is to give her subjects life with schematic arrangements that can invite the viewer to move into a space of speculation by creating portals of transformation through various emotional themes.
