Demario Hinds

My name is Demario Hinds, I am a film and digital photographer and also a videographer based in Kingston Jamaica. How I started out in photography was essentially my father had made me take pictures of bananas in the backyard (we had a backyard of bananas) and my father asked me to take pictures of them. I didn't do it any stereotypical or normal type of way, so I found angles, did some editing and I created something. That's essentially propelled into a habit and passion afterwards so that's how I started out.

In terms of my work, I am not necessarily the the one who likes to show stuff on a pretty scene. It is more like moody and dark or Grim in a sense and it really depends on the mood I'm trying to convey, but overall it has some kind of dark tones within it.

While growing up, I really enjoyed Classics that my parents played music from. Whether it was the 60s or 70s or even 80s but the era that speaks out to me the most would be the 90's and the specific genre would be 90's hip hop. That's where most of my creativity comes from that you are Tupac, Biggie, Snoop etc. With the likes of creatives like Chimodu (RIP) and Hype Williams, I am greatly influenced by.
