April Joiles

I am April S. Joiles, a Jamaican based Style Consultant, professional makeup artist and founder of ByJoiles. A brand focused on showcasing the diversity in self-expression of Jamaican people through makeup, styling and sustainable fashion concepts such as upcycling and thrifting. ByJoiles allows me to connect to people in a way that helps them to be more expressive through their sense of style. A major part of my clientele are queer creatives, environmentalists and entrepreneurs looking to find their individual style. Since 2018, I have been exploring the magic of makeup and styling in corporate spaces, working with brands such as, Collection MoDA, Digicel and MarketMe. As a Stylist, my most recent collection was inspired by the exploration of gender fluidity and fashion sustainability as a medium of expression through easily styled and multifunction pieces, in essence providing my clients with safer fashion alternatives. With the rapid increase in the impact of climate change, fast fashion being a main contributor, my mission is tap into our home-grown thrifting culture to create fashionable pieces. I believe fashion is timeless and with the vast knowledge available, I have prided myself in navigating this space to educate others and transform people’s style.
